How does the Pest Xit unit work?

The electromagnetic interference works by altering the normal field
around the electrical wiring in your wall cavities. The signals will affect
the pests' central nervous system making it uncomfortable to remain in the
walls and ceilings where the majority of pest problems exist. Pest Xit will
not kill pests, it will drive them away from your home.
The ultrasonic feature will cause auditory stress for the pests. Ultrasonic
waves travel in a straight line like audible sounds echoing off non-absorbing materials
to fill a room.
How effective is Pest Xit as a pest control system?

Pest Xit products are highly effective in eliminating or substantially
reducing pest infestations. Each product is designed to meet the requirements
demanded by different room areas, size and style of dwelling and for both internal
and external applications. Statistically, the success rate of the Pest-Xit products
is 94%.
The effectiveness of electromagnetic interference is within a 1 metre radius of
the affected wiring system. Areas with insufficient or no wiring may reduce
the effectiveness of Pest Xit.
The ultrasonic feature will be at its maximum effectiveness in areas where there
is no sound-absorbing materials such as curtains/ drapes and soft furniture.
"Shadow" areas, i.e. overlay areas, may occur around corners or nooks and crannies.
Will one Pest Xit product work in a home where another Pest

Yes. Any one product will not ‘cancel’ out the signals of another product.
Will Pest Xit affect domestic pets or children?
FAQ's
Pest Xit is harmless to domestic pets and children. If however your
family has a pet mouse, hamster, gerbil or similar pet, then the "ultrasonic" feature
can be turned off and the unit will still be effective.
Will Pest Xit affect any electrical appliances or computers?

No. It may however affect products such as plug-in intercom systems
where the unit relies on wiring system in the house to function properly.

Will the performance of Pest Xit decrease if doors
or windows are opened? FAQ's
Opened screened doors and windows will have no effect on the electromagnetic
component. The ultrasonic sound waves are affected by the physical nature
of the home or the area itself. Ultrasonic waves cannot penetrate solid objects
like walls or doors. Therefore, if you place a unit in a closed room, the
ultrasonic system will only be effective in that room. Opened doors allow
the sound waves to travel to other rooms.
How long does it take for the unit to take effect? FAQ's
Under normal conditions, there should be an increase in activity in the
first 3 weeks of use as pests are drawn out of their nesting areas in the walls.
They will leave the hostile environment created by Pest Xit within the next 2 to
3 weeks.
What is the estimated life of the Pest Xit unit?

The unit should have a minimum life of approximately five (5) years.

Under normal circumstances, Pest Xit products require no maintenance of
any kind.
How much electricity does the unit use?

Power consumption is minimal. Pest Xit uses just cents/ pennies worth
of electricity a day to operate.
Does the location of the unit need to be changed? FAQ's
The physical characteristics of each home determines the best location
of the unit. A centrally located, unobstructed position is the most desirable.
If favourable results are not achieved within 14 days then it is suggested that
the Pest Xit unit be moved to an area where the unit is unobstructed.
Is the unit effective against termites?

Pest Xit has not been tested against termites. It is not advisable to use
the device to repel termites.
Is the unit effective against ants or spiders?

to use the device to repel ants or spiders.
Does Pest Xit affect birds or reptiles? FAQ's
Most birds are not affected by Pest Xit products. Reptiles are not affected
by Pest Xit products. The frequency range of Pest Xit is beyond the hearing of most
species.
What is the warranty? FAQ's
There is a two-year manufacturer's warranty for construction defects.
Defective units must be shipped back to the point of purchase or to the exclusive
distributor in your region for exchange or repair.
Where was the product developed? FAQ's
The original Pest Xit products were researched and developed in Canada.
Later models were researched and developed in association with the University of
Texas, Department of Entomology.
Where are the products manufactured?

Currently products are manufactured and packaged in China. Smart
Technologies International Limited owns the design, mould and intellectual property
of the product.
What testing have the Pest-Xit products undergone? FAQ's
Pest Xit products have been independently tested by Intertek Testing Services
in Hong Kong and has received EMC certification.
Pest Xit products have also undergone laboratory testing in Australia by an independent
testing unit – Austest Laboratories – and the Queensland Department of Energy and
Mines.
Pest Xit is certified by UL, CE and GS for product safety.
Pest Xit meets the safety standards in Australia and has received the Australian
Communications Authority Compliance Labeling and use of the C-tick Mark on Electrical
and Electronic Equipment
